The Department of Chemistry is looking for a structured research coordinator that will manage projects and other activities at the Computational Life Science Cluster. Starting date is 2021-04-01, or as otherwise agreed. Last application date is 2021-01-21.


Project description
The Computational Life Science Cluster (CLiC) aims to support researchers in understanding complex chemical and biological systems via application and development of advanced data driven and computer based modelling tools and strategies. CLiC is an Umeå node and representative within NBIS (National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden) and the Umeå University data analytics platform focusing at research within the field of analysis of high-level structured and unstructured data. We have a panel of data scientists who offer their expertise to customers via several different types of support packages, as well as via tailored solutions. We are also involved in education of students at different levels, as well as promoting advanced data analytics knowledge in scientific community via invited lectures, webinars, courses, etc. CLiC customers come from Umeå University and SLU research groups and platforms, other universities in Sweden and Europe, as well as from industry.

 

Work tasks
As a research coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating all internal and external activities in CLiC. The tasks include, but are not limited to, coordinating the research projects, ensuring that the projects follow their schedules and budgets. Furthermore you are an administrative support to the CLiC data scientists and responsible for advertisement and other out-reach activities aimed at promotion of CLiC. Finally you prepare relevant SOPs, templates and other documentation. It is important that you collaborate effectively with our CliC customers, keep strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders and serve as a valuable support to the rest of the CLiC Team.


Qualifications
We are looking for a person who has a doctoral degree in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, chemometrics or relevant subject area.

Several years of demonstrated experience in coordinating scientific projects, preferably in field of ‘omics’ analysis, experience in working in interdisciplinary and multicultural groups as well as broad experience in delivering the results of work in both oral and written ways are a requirement. Good knowledge in English, both written and spoken, is required. Participation in international projects, for example EU ones, as well as broad international research collaboration network that could strengthen CLiC’s customer base are a merit.

You are structured, communicative and energetic. You enjoy working both independently and cooperate with others. Furthermore, you are creative and have good abilities within problem solving. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities.
