The Faculty of Medicine, which consists of 13 departments, is responsible for biomedical research and courses in the field of nursing and health care and has an extensive research and graduate education in more than 80 subjects.

The impact of lifestyle on public health is a research area that has expanded in recent years. The Department of Public Health and Clinical Medicine, Family Medicine is now looking for a postdoctoral fellow with a profile in this research area.

Work description

The work will include calibration of self-reported sitting time based on accelerometer data using compositional data analysis (CoDA), validation of existing risk models for diabetes and the development of a Västerbotten risk model and analysis regarding the relationships between sedentary behaviour, glucose metabolism and memory dysfunction based on collected accelerometer data.

Qualifications

Eligible to apply are individuals with a PhD or equivalent scientific skills. Priority will be given to applicants who graduated within three years before the application deadline.

Experience with STATA and Actigraph accelerometry including software. Experience in working with metabolism and hormonal analyses in relation to accelerometer data and mathematical modeling with WinSAAM or similar software is particularly in demand. Previous work with algorithms for analysis of physical activity data is a merit.

A requirement is that the applicant must be able to work both independently and as part of a research team. The ability to communicate in written and spoken scientific English is a requirement.

The applicant should have completed training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP). It is desirable that the applicant is a medical doctor.

Great emphasis is placed on the applicant's suitability for the project in question.
