Assessment criteria and weighting of assessment criteria
A general basis for assessment for teaching staff at Umeå University is good cooperative skills and the expertise and suitability required to complete the work duties satisfactorily in general.

In the assessment, the same care shall be devoted to scientific and educational skills.

In the weighing of different assessment criteria for the appointment of an associate senior lecturer, the academic skill shall be prioritised.  Great emphasis will also be placed on teaching proficiency.

In the assessment of academic skill, special focus is placed on originality, independence and potential to develop a successful line of research of their own within the field of economic geography specialising in labour market and regional development. Experience of working with project applications for research and funding obtained in national and international competition are meritorious. Great emphasis will also be placed on the ability to cooperate outside of the university and to provide information on research and development.

In assessing teaching expertise, consideration will be given to documented experience of the planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching, as well as to academic supervision and examinations. Special emphasis is placed on experience from teaching in economic geography.

For an appointment as associate senior lecturer, teaching proficiency is based partly on demonstrated interest in educational development within the field in question, and partly on any experience of teaching academic subjects or arts at university level. This expertise can be supplemented through training in higher education pedagogy.
