Description

We are looking for a research coordinator with a focus on research ethics for Grants Office at the Unit for External Relations. Grants Office is an important part of the central research support at Umeå University. We provide researchers with support for applications to national as well as international research programs, we also help them to identify, apply for and manage external research funding and provide support to university management on issues primarily related to research funding. Today we are nine employees with different academic backgrounds and skills.

Together, we work continuously to strengthen and develop the research support at the university, monitor and disseminate information about current calls and actively participate in the overall strategy work at Umeå University.

Your responsibilities

In your role as research coordinator, you will support Umeå University and its researchers by providing strategic and operational support on issues related to research applications, research funding issues, research policy and external monitoring. You will actively participate in the work of providing support to researchers, primarily pre-award and in the development work of an improved central research support, e.g. development of Grants Office information material and courses. In your work, you will help to develop the central support for our faculties in the area of research ethics at Umeå University, but you are also expected to contribute to other disciplines.

You will contribute to the development of the central research support by continually conduct external analyzes, participate in information efforts and develop decision-making bases for various stakeholders. You will provide strategic and operational support to the university management in university-wide questions related to research funding and in the field of research ethics. You will act as a rapporteur at university-wide councils where your assignments and analyzes will be presented.

Your placement will be at Grants Office, but the work will require collaboration with several units within the university administration, faculties and institutions.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a doctorate in the relevant subject area and have many years of work experience. Furthermore, we expect you to have:

• Experience of providing administrative support in the area of research ethics

• Very good experience in writing and evaluating external research applications

• Good knowledge of national and international grant programs and funding rules, especially from Sweden and Europe.

• Good knowledge of grant management over the different stages of research grants - pre- and post-award.

• Extensive experience of providing qualified writing support or leading / coordinating application writing.

• Excellent planning and organizational skills with good ability to prioritize work tasks.

• Excellent communication and social skills with the ability to work both independently and in teams.

Your personal suitability will be of great importance. As a research coordinator, you need to be self-sufficient but also able to plan, manage and execute projects together with different actors, which requires your ability to create good relationships in both internal and external contexts. You feel stimulated by creating results in knowledge-intensive environment and have a proactive approach. As a person you are flexible, solution focused and committed. You can impart knowledge in an educational way in both Swedish and English, orally and in writing.
