Postdoctoral position (2 years) in mathematics education

Research focus
Mathematics education research concerns teaching and learning of mathematics. Research at Umeå University (www.umu.se) is conducted interdisciplinary within the Umeå mathematics education research centre (UMERC, www.ufm.umu.se), which is one of the Nordic countries largest mathematical education research environments.
The research is aimed at mathematics education, but the postdoctor is free to choose the focus and delimitation. The postdoctor is expected to collaborate with one or more of the research groups (www.ufm.umu.se/forskning/grupper) or with individual researchers (ww.ufm.umu.se/om-ufm/personal) in a substantial part of the work. However, there is also a possibility within the position to carry out individual mathematics education research projects.
Qualifications
Qualifying is the one who has obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree equivalent to a doctorate, and has documented experience from mathematics education research or from adjoining research relevant to employment. Applicants with a doctorate received no more than three years before the end of the application period are prioritised, unless special reasons exist (e.g. parental leave).
The applicant should be able to conduct research independently as well as in collaboration with others and to write scientific publications. Good knowledge of English, in both speech and writing, is a requirement. Experience from mathematics teaching or other mathematics education-related activities is meritorious.
Duties
The postdoctor will, in collaboration with other researchers from different disciplines, participate in all phases of research: planning, experimental design, data collection, analysis and scientific writing. The postdoctor is expected to participate actively in the institutional and UMERC research environments.
The employment is full-time in two years. Starting date is 2017-09-01 or by agreement.
