This Staff Scientist position will be based at Umeå Marine Sciences Centre (UMF) which is a unit within Umeå University and is located in Norrbyn just 40 km south of Umeå. UMF’s strategic remit focuses on research, environmental monitoring and public engagement. Particularly relevant to this position, UMF’s area of remit includes the Arctic, sub-Arctic and extreme environments with the former warming at four times the global average. Job description and working tasks
We are seeking an outstanding candidate who will have a primary role of answering research questions related to environmental-driven change in marine ecosystems and/or systems using genomic, biogeochemical and/or ecological approaches which complement the current areas of staff expertise at UMF. Further, a key role of this position will be dissemination of research via scientific peer-reviewed literature.
UMF is a research nexus attracting international researchers, thus the successful candidate will perform a key function in dialogues with visiting groups and UMF colleagues promoting collaboration in the context of environmental grand challenges. The successful candidate will also be a member of the UMF Research grouping which develops research strategy relevant to our organisation.
