The Department of Psychology is looking for a postdoctoral fellow. The postdoc will work as a part of the international research project “Remote and flexible work arrangements: A cross-national study focused on implications for leaders and employees (REMOTE-FLEX)” funded by NordForsk and will be a part of the research group CoLeadR. The position is a full-time, fixed-term employment for two years starting in October 2024 or by agreement. Application deadline is on the 18th of August 2024..
The postdoc will work in the research project "Remote and flexible work arrangements: A cross-national study focused on implications for leaders and employees (REMOTE-FLEX)", which is a project focused on the role of work characteristics and leadership in remote and flexible work settings and how these impact employees work motivation, well-being, and performance. The tasks will consist of data collection and data analyses of quantitative and qualitative data and writing of scientific articles. The postdoc will also have opportunities to contribute to research applications. As a postdoc, you are expected to contribute to the department’s common research and educational environment.
The position is at the Department of Psychology. The place of employment is Umeå, Sweden, and active participation in the department’s activities and involvement in the activities are expected. Opportunities will also be provided for the postdoc to spend time at the University of South-Eastern Norway, Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, and ISM University of Management and Economics (Lithuania) where some of the project members are based.
To be eligible for the position, you must have a PhD in psychology or a degree relevant for the position no later than the time the employment decision is made. Furthermore, you must not have previously been employed as a postdoc for more than one year in the same or related subject area within Umeå University.
Since employment as a postdoc constitutes a career development position for junior researchers, we are looking for applicants who have a doctoral degree that is not older than three years from the application deadline. If there are special reasons, a person may be considered if they have obtained a doctoral degree earlier. Special circumstances refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, positions of trust in trade unions or other similar circumstances.
In the assessment of applicants, research expertise as well as documented knowledge and research merits in work and organizational psychology are key criteria.
The position requires very good English language skills, both verbally and in writing. Applicants should have experience and expertise in quantitative methods and advanced statistical analyses (e.g., structural equation modelling, multilevel analysis). It is also meritorious to have experience of working with interviews and analyses of qualitative data.
We are looking for a committed, responsible, and creative person that is highly motivated for research. The position as a postdoc requires a good ability to work as a part of a team and the ability to work independently. Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and collaborative skills also with disciplines outside the Department of Psychology. Work tasks may be requested during the recruitment process.
The position is a full-time, fixed-term employment for two years. The position includes own research for at least 80% of the working hours. Teaching and supervision at undergraduate, advanced, and possibly doctoral level may be included to a maximum of 20%.
