The Faculty of Medicine, which consists of 12 departments, is responsible for biomedical research and courses in the field of nursing and health care and has an extensive research and graduate education in more than 80 subjects.

The Department of Molecular Biology is looking for 2 amanuensis on 20%. Start in September 2024 or by agreement.

Work tasks

The work as amanuensis will consist of assisting with the sorting of old and unused chemicals as well as cataloguing the type and amount of these chemicals in preparation for their regulated disposal according to chemical security guidelines at Umeå University. Other assignments associated with chemical management, such as creating a chemical inventory for active research groups at the department may be added.

Qualifications

You who are looking for employment as an amanuensis must:

  • be enrolled in a course at Umeå University.
  • have completed at least 30 higher education credits in chemistry with a minimum grade of 3/Pass.
  • have completed at least 30 higher education credits in molecular biology with a minimum grade of 3/Pass.
  • have completed at least 10 higher education credits in practical laboratory training within chemistry and/or molecular biology with a minimum grade of 3/Pass.
  • be able to demonstrate good knowledge of safe general laboratory practice.
  • have the time to spare for the amanuens work, which means that you should be able to show that you have largely completed your studies at a normal pace of study and do not have too many courses uncompleted.
  • be able to communicate fluently in English.
  • previous experience of the KLARAchemical inventory system and of chemical risk assessments is a merit.

Terms

The employment is 20 procent (8 hours per week) during the period of 6 months and
beginning in September 2024 or as agreed. You will be introduced and trained in your duties by experienced staff at Molecular Biology. When you carry out your duties, you will collaborate closely with experienced staff at Molecular Biology
