Background

Umeå School of Architecture (UMA) is part of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Umeå University and has around 300 students and 40+ employees. We are now looking for employees who can work during the period of 2024-01-08 to 2024-12-20 when a need arises.

Main duties

Your main duties will consist of campus-based teaching in a studio environment at bachelor's and master's level within the Architecture program. The main part of the teaching consists of individual supervision with students where the design process and methods for developing architectural projects are in focus. This includes everything from preparation to implementation of teaching, supervision, presentations and production of teaching materials.

Competency requirements

To be qualified for the position, you hold a master’s degree or higher in Architecture, or other professional skills of significance to the subject area of the appointment and the duties included therein.

You have documented experience of teaching architecture at the university level, along with the ability to conduct education in a pedagogically thought-out way, and create a stimulating study environment in collaboration with students, colleagues and the local community.

Umeå School of Architecture is an international workplace with students and colleagues from all over the world. As such, very good verbal and written English communication skills are required.

Other desirable qualifications

Experience of working with the learning platform Canvas is an advantage.   

Existing knowledge of Umeå School of Architecture’s studio system and educational structure is considered an asset.  

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
