Postdoc in work and organizational psychology

The Department of Psychology offers an active and creative research and education environment for both employees and students. More detailed information about the department can be found on our website 

The Department of Psychology is looking for a postdoctoral fellow. The postdoc will work as a part of the interdisciplinary research program "Strategies for improved work longevity from an employer- and employee perspective" funded by FORTE and will be a part of the research group CoLeadR.  The position is a full-time, fixed-term employment for two years starting 2024-01-01 or by agreement. Description of the project and main work tasks

The postdoc will work in the six-year research program "Strategies for improved work longevity from an employer- and employee perspective". The tasks will primarily consist of designing and implementing an intervention with a focus on job crafting and its effects on work motivation and health of older employees. Data collection and writing of scientific articles based on the intervention will also be a part of the postdoc position.

The postdoc will have opportunities to conduct data analyses and write articles for publication in scientific journals on already collected data and contribute to research applications. As a postdoc, you are also expected to contribute to the department's common research environment and be part of and contribute to the educational environment.

The position is at the Department of Psychology. The place of employment is Umeå and active participation in the department's activities and involvement in the activities are expected.

Qualification

To be eligible for the position, you must have a PhD in psychology or a degree relevant for the position no later than the time the employment decision is made. You must not have previously been employed as a postdoc for more than one year in the same or related subject area within Umeå University to be eligible for the position.

Since employment as a postdoc constitutes a career development position for junior researchers, we are looking for applicants who have a doctoral degree that is not older than three years from the application deadline. If there are special reasons, a person may be considered if they have obtained a doctoral degree earlier. Special circumstances refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, positions of trust in trade unions or other similar circumstances.

Assessment criteria

In the assessment of applicants, research expertise as well as documented knowledge and research merits in work and organizational psychology are key criteria.

The position requires very good English language skills, both verbally and in writing. Applicants should have experience and expertise in both quantitative methods and advanced statistical analyses (e.g., structural equation modelling, multilevel analysis). It is also meritorious to have carried out research projects in close collaboration with organizations and to have experience of planning and implementing interventions at workplaces.

We are looking for a committed, responsible, and creative person that is highly motivated for research. The position as a postdoc requires a good ability to work as a part of a team and the ability to work independently. Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and collaborative skills also with disciplines outside the Department of Psychology. Work tasks may be requested during the recruitment process.

Employment

The position is a full-time, fixed-term employment for two years. The position includes own research for at least 80% of the working hours. Teaching and supervision at undergraduate, advanced, and possibly doctoral level may be included to a maximum of 20%.
