Umeå School of Architecture is hiring up to 5 Teaching Assistants for work within three different areas during the fall semester of 2023 and the spring semester of 2024. The position is 10% of full-time with a planned start date in September 2023 or as agreed. The application deadline is 14 May, 2023.

Tasks 

The School of Architecture is looking for Teaching Assistants in three different areas; our workshop, communications department and in program coordination and development. In your application, you will be asked to specify which area(s) you are interested in working in. 

As a Teaching Assistant in the workshop, you will work with:

  • Service and maintenance of machines for digital and manual manufacturing.
  • Instructing other students in various techniques (as time permits).
  • Creation and maintenance of good organizations in and around the workshop premises.

As a Teaching Assistant in communications, you will work with: 

  • Development and publishing of marketing content, for example on social media channels, in coordination with Umeå School of Architecture’s Communications Officer.
  • Assisting with the development of communication and marketing strategies.

As a Teaching Assistant in program coordination and development, you will work with:

  • Program and curriculum development and revision.
  • Education quality control and evaluation.
  • Planning and execution of open houses, guided tours and visits from prospective students
  • Communication and introduction of new and/or international students.

Qualifications 
 
To be eligible to apply for the positions you should:

  • Be a student in the Architecture Programme, year 2-5 or Master’s Programme in Architecture and Urban Design at Umeå School of Architecture.
  • For the work in the workshop, be interested in digital production/fabrication and working with the machines in the workshop.
  • For the work in communications, have an interest in developing your knowledge in marketing and communications, and be well acquainted with social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
  • For the role within program coordination and development, be interested in contributing to a positive development of the Architecture programme and its connection with prospective, new and existing students.

Employment Conditions

As a Teaching Assistant, you are employed by Umeå University. The positions are 10% of full-time during the fall semester 2023 and the spring semester 2024 with the start date September 1, 2023 or as agreed.
