We are looking for a Field Assistant to work with a dynamic group of researchers at the Climate Impacts Research Center, Department of Ecology and Environment Sciences, based in Abisko. The position is full-time and is time-limited to the period 1 May and 30 September 2023. The application deadline is 2023-03-16.
Work tasks
The field assistant will participate in various research activities in the Abisko region. This work includes planning and implementation of environmental data collection in aquatic and terrestrial environments, including laboratory work. The work is physically demanding and often includes the transportation of heavy field equipment on foot or on skis with backpacks or sledges. The assistant will coordinate activities with researchers, technical staff, students, and interns to ensure the highest quality.

Qualifications
We are looking for you with at least a bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, environmental science or equivalent. You have good experience of working in demanding mountain environments that are typical for Abisko (summer and winter conditions). The applicant must have prior experience conducting fieldwork and laboratory work in subarctic or arctic environments. You must be able to navigate with a map and compass. You have good knowledge of Microsoft Office and good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in English. A valid driver's license in Sweden is a requirement for this position. A general knowledge of plant species, communities, and phenology and measurement techniques in the Abisko region is meritorious. It is desirable if the person has training in first aid and CPR certification.
