The Faculty of Medicine, which consists of 12 departments, is responsible for biomedical research and courses in the field of nursing and health care and has an extensive research and graduate education in more than 80 subjects.

The Department of community medicine and rehabilitation comprises five units; Occupational therapy, Physiotherapy, Geriatrics, Sports medicine and Rehabilitation medicine, all involved in teaching, research and collaboration with society and health care.

Project description

As a postdoc, you will work in a project where we develop and evaluate digital methods to provide training support to people with intellectual disabilities who need to improve their balance. In the project, we work together with the target group involved in the design and evaluation of the digital program BalansPeppen. The project is carried out in cooperation with Östersund Municipality Health and Social Care Administration, disability sector The position is located in Umeå, but short stays in Östersund in connection with data collections are included.

You will be part of a team of senior and junior researchers with an interdisciplinary focus. Together with the research team, you will mainly work on the development of materials for the digital programme together with the target group, conducting studies with a focus on implementation, analysis and manuscript writing, and dissemination of results. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used in the project. 

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a University degree equivalent to a European University PhD in Physiotherapy or of other relevant subjects. Candidates with a PhD degree less than three years old will be considered first. We are looking for a candidate with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Experience in work related to the project focus such as implementation research, quantitative and qualitative methods, experience in research on physical activity and exercise, knowledge of behavioural change theories and experience of working with people with intellectual disabilities is an advantage. You should also have an interest in the development of e-health tools. Good communication skills in Swedish are desirable.
