Umeå School of Architecture is now hiring for a part-time, temporary teaching position. The last day to apply is January 25, 2023. 

Intermittent employment means that you may be offered individual, short-term employment opportunities during a specific period. The employment opportunities are time-limited in accordance to LAS § 1 p.

Availability of this nature means that a new employment relationship begins each time you are offered and accept work.

We are now looking for someone who can work during the period 2023-03-01 to 2023-06-30. The number of hours offered during the period may vary. The number of hours are reported via report sheets submitted by the employee at the end of each month worked. 

Main duties

The duties consist of campus-based teaching in a studio environment at bachelor's and master's level within the Architecture program. The main part of the teaching consists of individual supervision with students where the design process and methods for developing architectural projects are in focus. This includes everything from preparation to implementation of teaching, supervision, presentations and production of teaching materials.

Competency requirements

Qualified to be appointed is someone who holds a master’s degree or higher in Architecture, or other professional skills of significance to the subject area of the appointment and the duties included therein.

We are seeking someone with documented experience of teaching, supervision, pedagogical development work and supervision of thesis or research projects within architecture education at the university level.

The ability to conduct education in a pedagogically thought-out way, as well as the ability to create a stimulating study environment in collaboration with students, colleagues and the local community is required.

Umeå School of Architecture is an international workplace with students and colleagues from all over the world. As such, very good verbal and written English communication skills are required.

Other desirable qualifications

Relevant active development practice in the field and documented pedagogical competence in architecture education (university level) are considered strong assets.

Experience of working with learning platforms is an advantage.  

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
