We are looking for a senior research engineer focused on fungal metagenomics. It is a part time position of 50% limited to 6 months. Start date is January 1st, 2022 or according to agreement. Application deadline is December 3rd, 2021.
Task assignment
The candidate will analyse large scale metagenomics data, focusing on identification and characterization of fungi. Data comes from Illumina shotgun sequencing of air filters and constitutes a 40-year weekly timeseries. Tasks will be mostly computational and include read mapping, K-mer based classification and time series analysis. Results will be published in open access peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements
A doctoral degree in biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, or another relevant area is required. In addition, at least one year of post-doctoral research within the area of fungal metagenomics as well as programming skills in Python and R is required. Fluent skills in oral and written English are also requirements. We are looking for an independent person that is used to taking own initiatives at work.
Experience in using software for read mapping, k-mer based read classification, and multivariate data analysis is meriting.
