The Department of Language Studies at Umeå University's Faculty of Humanities conducts education and research in languages, literature, culture and didactics in English, Finnish, Meänkieli, French, Italian, linguistics, Swedish/Nordic languages, Russian, Sami, Spanish and German. The department has about 115 employees and is a multilingual and multicultural workplace in a creative environment.

The Department of Language Studies is looking for a senior research assistant. The employment is  for 9 months and full-time, starting as soon as possible.

Job description
As senior research assistant, you are responsible for conducting your own research within the framework of the project "Migration and Mental Illness in Literature". During the employment, you are expected to produce relevant academic articles in international peer-reviewed journals within the framework of the project.

Qualifications
You should have a doctoral degree in the literature of modern languages, preferably with focus on English, or another doctoral degree with relevance to the content of the employment. You should have knowledge of medical humanities and English-language literature from the 19th century to the present.

This position requires good and documented knowledge of English in both speech and writing.

You should also be independent, accurate and have the ability to apply analytical thinking.
