Swedish Center for Digital Innovation (SCDI) has established itself as a leading actor within the study of digital innovation and digital transformation. Through a significant donation from the Wallenberg Foundations, SCDI now has the opportunity to strengthen its operations through the Wallenberg Digital Innovation Program. The program involves an increased focus on outreach as well as a strengthening of the research environment through an ambitious, multi-year postdoctoral program. At the Umeå University node, SCDI is established at the Department of Informatics.

Job assignment
As an SCDI postdoctoral fellow you will focus on conducting research and publishing on the highest academic level (AIS Basket of Eight, FT50). You will be part of newly formed constellations where you will work in close collaboration with colleagues from both the department of Informatics and the other nodes in SCDI, Stockholm School of Economics and Gothenburgs University, as well as Rise and other partners from industry and the public sector. Your research is expected to be of stellar quality and contribute to enhanced digital capabilities in industry and the public sector. We would expect that your scientific contribution is within one of the three fields described below. However, if you have other interests and ideas, you are more than welcome to propose this in your application provided it is aligned with SCDIs vision.

· Digital transformation: e.g. Digital change processes among incumbent actors, disruption, platform strategies.
· Digital government: e.g. Governance and control of public sector digitalization, open government, innovation within digital government.
· Consequences of AI: e.g. How AI impacts strategy and business models, decision making, organizing, algorithmic work.

Qualifications and assessment criteria
To be eligible, the applicant must have a doctoral degree in informatics or equivalent. The applicant must have documented research experience in the field of informatics/information systems, digital innovation and digital transformation. Priority should be given to candidates who have completed their doctoral degree no more than three years before the closing date of the application. A candidate who has completed their degree prior to this may be considered if special circumstances exist. The position requires good knowledge of English as a working language. Documented experience of research in the social sciences and experience of advanced qualitative and/or quantitative methods.

Assessment will be conducted on the basis of the candidate’s potential for acting as a positive force within SCDI. This requires a excellent scientific capability (scientific method, theoretical foundation and publishing), excellent collaboration abilities and the capability to interact and collaborate with SCDI partners within industry and the public sector.

You must be outgoing and flexible in your way of working, you take your own initiatives and are able to work independently. You are a person who takes full responsibility for the tasks you have to carry out. The work also requires that you have a good ability to collaborate with others both within and outside Umeå University.

Further, the recruitment of a total of nine post-docs at three institutions (Umeå University being one) means that we will coordinate the recruitment in the aspiration for synergies among the research fields. 

The Employment
The employment is a fixed-term employment of two years for full-time from 2021-09-01, or according to agreement. Place of work is at the Department of Informatics, Umeå University. The employee is expected to perform parts of their work at the department and participate in the departments other activities.

At the Department of Informatics, research and education are conducted with a focus on digitization of society, organizations and interaction. Digital technology has become an enabler for changing ways of living and conducting business. In our research, we study these changes and processes of change and we study the interaction between humans and technology to understand the possibilities of technology and it’s limitations.
