Description

The unit for research support and collaboration has two specializations: research support and collaboration. This position, which is now being advertised, is intended to operate within Umea university Research Support Office (RSO). RSO is an important part of the university's joint research support and an important part of the University's work to achieve the goal of increasing the proportion of national and international research funds, which is made by ensuring competitive, high-quality research applications in accordance with funders requirements. RSO educates and informs researchers and administrators about various funders, funding opportunities and processes linked to ongoing research projects.

RSO also works to provide support for research strategic decisions to the university management, coordination of national and local research infrastructure, ethics in the research process and continuously conduct various analyzes, support the work of developing the central research support and compile granted external research funds.


Your work assignments
In your role as research coordinator, you work to support Umea University's goals and vision in accordance with the Unit for research support and collaboration assignments with a focus on research and management support where you work both strategically and operationally.

You support both university- and faculty management by producing analyzes and decision material for research strategic decision questions about e.g. granted funds, publication statistics, statistics for granted research applications and external monitoring aimed at e.g. be able to provide an ongoing current situation picture of indicators that show the development of approved funds and Umeå University's strong research areas with their scope and impact. Compilations are presented on an ongoing basis to university, faculty management and university-wide councils where you are the rapporteur.

In your role, you will support Umea University's work to develop processes around research infrastructure, both national and local research infrastructure. This includes, together with other employees at the unit, coordinating the Swedish Research Council's call for research infrastructure of national interest and preparing the basis for decisions prior to decisions on central support for local research infrastructure. Part of your service will also involve developing the unit's innovation support.

Your placement will be at the Unit for Research Support and Collaboration, but the work presupposes collaboration with several units within the university administration and, if necessary, organizations outside the authority.


Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a PhD and have several years of relevant work experience. Furthermore, you have:

  • Good knowledge of the conditions of research nationally and internationally
  • Good knowledge of research funders and the research policy landscape
  • Experience from analysis and follow-up in public administration
  • Experience of working with research infrastructure
  • Understanding of scientific production and its parts can be analyzed and communicated

Meritorious

  • Experience of providing support to top management in public organization
  • Experience of the Swedish Research Council's needs inventory and announcement of research infrastructure of national interest
  • Experience of working with innovation support

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. As a research coordinator in this role, you need to be independent but also plan, lead and carry out projects together with different actors, something that places demands on your ability to create good relationships in both internal and external contexts. You are stimulated by creating results in knowledge-intensive environments and have a proactive approach that gives positive effects on the development of the business. As a person, you are flexible, solution-focused and committed. You can convey knowledge in a pedagogical way in both Swedish and English, orally and in writing.
