The Faculty of Medicine, which consists of 12 departments, is responsible for biomedical research and courses in the field of nursing and health care and has an extensive research and graduate education in more than 80 subjects.

Description of the work
The research assistant will work about 50 percent within a research project supported by the Strategic Research Area Neuroscience Umeå University (StratNeuro). The main aim of the project is the development and establishment of non-invasive imaging methods (MRI and PET) in small animals to detect brain network fidelity in normal aging. The position involves the supervision of students and post-docs with MRI/PET acquisition in rodents, image data analysis, as well as immunohistochemical evaluation and analyses of brain tissue.

The remaining part of the position includes work in independent research projects in similar areas.

For the right person, teaching may also occur in, for example, histology with cell biology.

The position is full time, until 31.12.2021 with a start date of 1.12.2020 or upon agreement.

Qualifications
Eligible to apply are individuals with a PhD in a relevant area, such as biology and/or neuroscience. Technical expertise in small animal MRI, including image and advanced statistical analysis, as well as experience in anesthesia and handling of small animals is essential. The successful candidate is proficient in written and spoken English.

It is a strong merit that you have published in international peer-reviewed journals and have relevant pedagogical competence.
