Curiosum is a new science center with makerspace in Umeå, which aims to increase interest and knowledge about science and technology for children, young people and the general public. The purpose of a science center is to 

• stimulate interest in science and technology, innovation and entrepreneurship to meet future societal challenges.
• create unique learning opportunities so that all children and young people have the opportunity to find and develop their abilities.
• offer a meeting place for collaboration between the public, school, working life and academia that creates reflection and new perspectives.

Curiosum is an meeting place for children, young people, students, teachers and researchers, a tourist attraction and an innovation environment for research and development. Curiosum is located on the Arts Campus of Umeå University, close to Umeå city center. Curiosum hosts experimental workshops for educational activities, halls for interactive experiences and learning, and workshops for digital manufacturing with various methods and materials. A newly built dome theater offers great opportunities to work with scientific visualization and offer immersive and interactive experiences with scientific data, such as planetarium but also other data sets, such as climate, AI, life etc., and also show film productions in 360 format. Curiosum is in an intensive development phase and now comprises about 15 people and is led by a manager. A steering committee consisting of representatives from Umeå University and Umeå Municipality is responsible for the operation and development.

We are now looking for a project leader for development work, coordination and implementation around exhibitions and activities in the science center. The position is 100% of a full-time position and is a fixed-term employment of 12 months. The position starts as soon as possible or by agreement.

Working tasks

The tasks consist of leading teams that develop and / or carry out educational activities and interactive exhibitions and experiences to the science center.

• Pre-existing tasks in connection with project management, eg planning, budget, documentation and follow-up.
• In dialogue with clients, subject matter experts, designers and external parties, coordinate the production of exhibitions and/or educational activities.
• Develop documentation for procurement and purchase of equipment.
• Develop documentation for testing and evaluation of activities and exhibitions.

 Qualifications

 You have at least a relevant bachelor's level and are particularly interested in learning and communication of science and technology. You have a good ability and experience of organizing or managing work in project form and of working with different people with different skills. The tasks requires ability to work both independently and in teams. You have a good ability and experience in compiling and analyzing achieved results as a basis for continued planning as well as good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. It is an advantage if you have education with a focus on, or experience of working with, development of educational activities, exhibition production focusing on interactivity, for example at science centers or museums or other contexts that deal with communication and learning about science and technology. Merit is also experience in design and graphic design, especially in scientific and educational contexts.
