The Faculty of Medicine, which consists of 13 departments, is responsible for biomedical research and courses in the field of nursing and health care and has an extensive research and graduate education in more than 80 subjects.
Project description
We are announcing a full time postdoctoral position in the cognitive neuroscience of aging at the Department of Integrative Medical Biology (IMB) and Umeå center for Functional Brain Imaging (UFBI: www.ufbi.umu.se; director: Lars Nyberg).
UFBI is an interdisciplinary research center where functional and structural brain imaging is used to address several basic science and clinical research questions.
The research environment at UFBI is highly dynamic and stimulating, with a robust infrastructure including state-of-the-art scanning equipment and strong in-house expertise in statistics and neuroimaging analyses.
The successful candidate will have a primary PI for mentoring purposes (Professor Lars Nyberg), and work collaboratively with one or several other UFBI researchers. Longitudinal studies are done in the the Betula (main collaborator, Sara Pudas) and Cobra (main collaborator, Nina Karalija) projects, in which large-scale behavioral and neuroimaging (MRI and PET) data sets have been collected. Another project concerns studies of cognitive training and brain plasticity, using smart-phone apps (main collaborators, CJ Boraxbekk and Petra Sandberg).
Qualifications
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong record of research in the field of cognitive neuroscience of aging. Eligible to apply are individuals with a PhD in a relevant field, or equivalent scientific merits. Priority will be given to applicants who graduated within a maximum of 5 years prior to the application deadline. Good skills in experimental design, statistics, and scientific communication in English, both orally and in writing, are expected.

Specifically, the letter should outline potential research questions in relation to the data and projects listed above in the project description.

The position is full time for two years.
