The Department of Ecology and Environmental Science are searching for a Research Engineer. The employment is on 100% and is a fixed term employment for six months. Starting date is 2018-12-20 or according to agreement. The employment will be divided between Climate Impacts Research Centre (CIRC) and Integrated Science Lab (IceLab). Job description
The overall goal is to develop tools for the effective implementation of technology in citizen science projects for the Arenas for Cooperations (ARC) web platform, for Climate Impacts Research Centre. You will also be working on maintaining the Integrated Science Lab’s (IceLab) interdisciplinary communication efforts.
You will collaborate with ARCs team members in the creation of shared resource, including bibliographic database, database of citizen science projects and design of a survey for Swedish scientists. You will be categorizing citizen science publications and projects using technology-specific tags and create summaries of publications and projects. Based on this, you will be assisting in the development of content for the ARCs website, in both written and visual formats.
In the work for IceLab the main goal is to develop and maintain communication platforms and materials to highlight IceLab’s core business: bringing researchers together over traditional subject boundaries. Tasks will include maintaining communication platforms (icelab.se and the Twitter feed). You will also be generating new content to communicate, and coordinating interdisciplinary communication events that IceLab arranges.
Qualifications
You should have a Master’s Degree in Natural Science and experience in communications relevant for both IceLab and CIRC. Skills for development of knowledge and communication product content and design, as well as carrying out research literature reviews are necessary. Experience in web publishing (e.g. WordPress), running social media accounts (e.g. Twitter) for science communication is necessary. This position requires good skills in written and oral English.
Hands-on experience in public relations, outreach activities, and event management is desired. Experience in networking and proactive collaboration with research groups, community groups and other critical partners. You need to have the ability to plan your own work and do it independently.
