The department of Culture and Media Studies is looking for a post doctor in ethnology, media- and communication studies, museology, or literary studies.

The department of Culture and Media Studies is part of the Faculty of Arts at Umeå University, and has a broad educational and research field within the diciplines ethnology, cultural analysis, literary studies, media-and communication studies and museology. The department has about 60 employees and the unique combination of disciplines makes the department a creative milieu with an intersection of culture, art, literature and media. www.kultmed.umu.se

Qualifications and evaluation criteria
Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires a PhD in ethnology, media- and communication studies, museology, or literary studies or a foreign degree equivalent to such a PhD. A precondition is that the applicant has not previously been employed as a postdoc at Umeå University for more than a year within the same, or equivalent discipline. To be eligible for this position, you should have completed your doctoral degree maximum three (3) years before the end of the time of application, unless there are special reasons (e.g. parental or sick leave).

Scientific merits forms are the primary basis for evaluation and assessment. Ranking is done according to proven scientific quality and track record.

Good skills of Swedish or other Scandinavian language, both written and spoken, is a request for applicants in literary studies.

A general assessment criterion is good interpersonal skills, as well as the competence and suitability otherwise required to carry out the work duties successfully.

Duties
A postdoctoral position means primarily full-time research for two years, and active participation in the discipline’s research activities. Some teaching may also be included in the work duties.

The position is placed in Umeå. High personal attendance at the department is a requirement.
