1-2 senior lecturers (universitetslektor) in business administration, management

We are looking for candidates who will participate in teaching and research primarily at USBE, Umeå University. You will participate in teaching in English, but also in Swedish, and will also be able to conduct research. Apply by the 3rd of April, 2018.

Work assignments (Arbetsinnehåll)
Your main work tasks will be teaching in business administration, primarily in management, but also in marketing and entrepreneurship, and you will supervise theses, both undergraduate and doctoral students. You will participate in developmental work and joint activities within the department.

We value engagement, participation and responsibility in planning and conducting teaching assignments. Teaching at the department is conducted both in English and in Swedish, therefore all faculty members are as a part of their duties obliged to master Swedish as a language.

There is the possibility to conduct research for up to 80 % of the yearly work time. The current base of the position is 80 % teaching and 20 % competence development. This may change depending on the university allotment of resources. You will spend your work time in Umeå.

Admission criterias (Behörighet)
The base criteria for a full time lecturer (universitetslektor) is a doctoral degree in business administration, or an education from a foreign university equals the requirements of a doctoral degree in business administration.

Assessment criteria and weight given to each criteria
In terms of suitability for the position as a lecturer the applicant will equally be assessed according to scientific skill, pedagogical skill and general suitability. In addition, the applicants’ skill in cooperating with the community outside of the university will be assessed, as will the applicant’s administrative skills.
In terms of pedagogical admissibility, the university requires at least 7,5 credits of pedagogical training at university level. You do also need to submit an extensive experience in teaching.

Specific criterias for the position (särskilda bedömningsgrunder)

1. Experience from teaching in business administration, with a specialty in management, entrepreneurship or marketing

2. Experience from conducting and publishing research in business administration, with a specialty in management. Management is here defined as both inquiries into organisations and into inter-organisational relationships, using research methods based in business management. Special consideration should be made for the applicant’s ability to achieve SA- classification according to the quality system used by USBE.

3. Ability and experience in teaching in English. The applicant should show a clear ambition to develop skills in the Swedish language in order to be able to teach in Swedish. Applicants that do not speak Swedish by the time of application must, in three years’ time, be prepared to accept assignments which require an understanding of the Swedish language.

4. Skill in cooperating with the outside community. Specifically, engagements outside the university in cooperation with organisations.

5. Administrative skills, such as responsibilities related to teaching and research.

The assessment criteria are valued as a ranking from above, with the exception that teaching and research are assessed equally. In judging scientific qualifications, the publications during the past five years are of higher importance, in accordance with the SA-qualification criteria of USBE.
