Project Description

Today there is a well-developed research field that problematises identity in science based on gender, class and ethnicity. This research field has contributed to new and significant knowledge of inclusion and exclusion processes in science. Further perspectives needed for us to understand inclusion and exclusion in science are even better queer theory and / or crip theory. A PhD student project in this area would fill an important knowledge gap within the field. The doctoral student will be a part of the research environment Umeå Science Education Research (UmSER) http://www.nmd.umu.se/english/research/umser/. Within UmSER, research aims at increasing knowledge about the importance of teaching, content, context, gender, motivation and attitudes for learning and interest in science and technology.
