We are looking for a person to join our new research programme devoted to developing novel statistical for causal inference using large databases.

Research
Department of Statistics, Umeå School of Business and Economics, holds a research programme for the development of statistical methods for analyzing causal effects using population-based register data. The programme includes a research theme for studies of inclusion/exclusion criteria for selection of a study population when estimating an average causal effect. Research questions related to confounder control with regression models for outcomes and treatments (propensity scores) are also studied. 

Position description
A successful candidate for the postdoc position is expected to work with development of new statistical methods for causal inference, in collaboration with the research leader Ingeborg Waernbaum. The candidate is also expected to participate in interdisciplinary collaborations with applied researchers that analyze register. The person we are looking for can work independently as well as in a research group. The duration of the position is two years, planned to start May 1, 2017 or according to other agreement. Expected outcomes for this two year postdoc include publications in statistical journals, R packages implementing the developed methods, as well as scientific publications through active participation in multidisciplinary research teams.

Qualifications
Applicants should have a PhD in statistics/mathematical statistics (or related area) and must have obtained their doctorate degree no more than three years before the deadline for the application. Research experience in causal inference and/or other related areas is a merit. Experience in building packages in R is also a merit. Excellent written and spoken English is a requirement.
