ReaL Step 2

The ReaL Step 2 leadership program for established researchers will be offered during 2025 - 2026.

The program aims to provide active targeted skills and career support to researchers with the aim of becoming successful researchers and scientific leaders at Umeå University. The program is open to 21 participants from all faculties. Please see the following link for detailed information:
Real step 2 program

Target group:
ReaL Step 2 is designed for individuals with small to medium-sized networks or research groups who aspire to advance as research leaders. Ideal candidates should demonstrate a strong ambition to achieve impactful research results and preferably hold a docent title. External funding is required, and experience from other universities, along with a robust national or international network, is highly desirable.

Candidates should be gaining experience as research leaders and supervisors, with a developing vision for their research field and a strategic plan for future research. Experience in committees, research foundations, evaluation committees, or other administrative roles is beneficial. Teaching experience is also expected.

Typically, candidates will have graduated between 7 to 12 years ago. However, the selection process will focus on the stage of the applicant's research career rather than the exact number of years since graduation.

Application
The application must contain a CV, publication list, a self-evaluation of leadership experiences, and a short career plan. The application must be approved by your Head of Department.
